Job summary

Flexport seeks an experienced Procurement Manager for the Ocean team to drive procurement for the Transpacific-Eastbound trade. You will negotiate with carriers, build partnerships, and develop scalable processes to support growth and service levels across current and new business.

The role requires strong strategic thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to work with teams in Asia and the U.S. Travel regionally and internationally is expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of ocean procurement experience at a top freight forwarder or related supply chain experience with a BA/BS degree.
• Strategic vision with ability to build processes from the ground up.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
• A compliance-first attitude in a heavily regulated industry.

Responsibilities

• Drive all ocean carrier procurement for the TPEB trade and manage carrier development and partnerships.
• Coordinate and negotiate annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly procurement activities.
• Build scalable procurement rhythms and tools, including cost and pricing management.
• Lead rate setting and strategy for RFPs.
• Collaborate with Ocean and demand teams to win new business and service existing books.
• Educate the organization with carrier and trade lane intelligence to improve decision making.
• Collaborate with teams in Asia to execute trade strategy and fulfillment.
• Address escalations in Asia and the U.S. to keep business moving.
