Job summary

Volunteers of America Greater New York seeks a Senior Occupational Therapist to provide pediatric occupational therapy in a Bronx preschool setting. You will assess, treat, and supervise COTAs while maintaining evidence-based practices in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requires a Master’s in Occupational Therapy, NYS licensure, NBCOT certification, and at least 5 years of pediatrics experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and NYS OT licensure.
• Minimum 5 years pediatric experience.
• NBCOT certification.

Responsibilities

• Implement OT intervention plans directly or with others.
• Screen and evaluate children to support treatment planning.
• Document services for VOA and third-party payers.
• Provide supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
• Review and cosign documentation for COTA.
• Oversee prescription management for COTA caseload.
• Engage in professional development for licensure.

Position: Senior Occupational Therapist

The Senior Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy treatment to children in the pre-school setting, performs occupational therapy assessments and supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA’s).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and minimum of 5 years’ experience and/or training in pediatrics.
• Licensed as a New York State Occupational Therapist.
• Certification from the National Board for the Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Senior Occupational Therapist Principal Responsibilities:

• Implements the occupational therapy intervention plan directly or in collaboration with others.
• Screens and evaluates children to obtain and interpret data necessary for planning intervention and for treatment planning. Performs advanced, specialized evaluations or assessments as indicated by an individual child’s needs.
• Documents services as required by Volunteers of America as well as third party payers.
• Follows to the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as well as Volunteers of America policies and procedures.
• Maintains treatment areas, and equipment as required.
• Provide clinical and clerical supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Review and cosign documentation, notes and reports for the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Provide oversight of prescription management for COTA’s caseload
• Participate in professional development activities as mandated by the Volunteers of America and by the requirements for the continuation of occupational therapy licensure.
