Job summary

Vanderbilt University seeks a Senior Safety Officer to advance the university-wide EHSS program in occupational safety. You will develop training, policies, and programs, lead audits, and provide expert consultation across facilities, shops, and construction activities in the Nashville area.

The role emphasizes safety informatics, data management, and stakeholder collaboration with staff, faculty, and leadership. Occasional after-hours response and travel to network campuses may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or related field is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional certification (CSP) is preferred.
• OSHA general industry and construction knowledge required.
• Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal hours and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain training modules and educational materials.
• Deliver live trainings as needed.
• Develop and implement safety programs in line with OSHA requirements.
• Conduct job hazard analyses for high-risk tasks.
• Investigate injuries and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Perform worksite inspections to ensure safe conditions.
• Maintain safety program budgets and manage related costs.
• Drive safety metrics using informatics and analytics.
