Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior Reliability Engineer specializing in observability.

In this role you will partner with product owners, application engineering, SRE teams, and operations to define SLIs/SLOs, govern dashboards, alerts, and telemetry standards, and drive continuous improvement for enterprise applications. You will lead the design of observability architectures, maintain governance frameworks, mentor teams, and ensure production readiness with instrumented systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Six to eight years of relevant work experience in observability or reliability engineering.
• Expertise in SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, and alert governance.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, cloud platforms, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition, documentation, and improvement of Observability across critical customer journeys.
• Design, implement, and govern SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and reliability metrics.
• Establish Observability Governance Frameworks for dashboards, alerts, and telemetry.
• Mentor teams on tracing, logging, metrics, and alerting best practices.
• Ensure applications are production-ready and instrumented for reliability measurement.
• Develop dashboards that communicate service health and SLO performance.
