Job summary

Nscale seeks a Principal/Staff Observability Platform Engineer to own the technical direction of its observability platform for GPU clusters, AI workloads, and infrastructure. You will define architecture, raise the engineering bar, and ensure the platform scales ahead of business needs.

You will partner with SRE, infra, and AI/ML teams to embed observability by design, mentor the team, and drive durable improvements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in SRE or observability-focused roles.
• Experience operating observability infrastructure at scale.
• Strong bias towards simplicity in design.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting at scale.
• Drive platform decisions with multi-year impact across tooling, data models, ingestion patterns, retention, and cardinality.
• Identify systemic gaps before incidents and design scalable platforms.
• Partner with SRE, infra, and AI/ML teams to embed observability into builds and operations.
• Define standards and patterns adopted by engineers through clear advantage.
• Mentor and grow the observability team; raise the ceiling of what can be built.
• Lead incident postmortems to drive durable improvements.
• Evaluate tooling to improve signal quality and efficiency; retire ineffective tech.
