Job summary

Nextiya LLC is seeking a Senior Observability Engineer in Fairfax, VA to architect and optimize Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Observability Cloud, and OpenTelemetry pipelines. You will collaborate with SRE and development teams to define SLIs/SLOs and implement advanced alerting and dashboards for cloud-native apps.

Requires 4+ years in observability or DevOps, strong scripting, and hands-on Splunk/SignalFx experience. This is a daylight role in a U.S. workplace with security-conscious practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of engineering experience in observability, SRE, or DevOps.
• Proven architecture experience for large-scale systems with observability tools such as Splunk Enterprise Security or SignalFx (Splunk Observability Cloud).
• Hands-on experience with Splunk Cloud/Enterprise and SignalFx (Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring, Splunk APM, and Splunk Log Observer).
• OpenTelemetry familiarity, configuring OTel Collectors for distributed tracing and streaming metrics.
• Cloud monitoring across AWS/Azure/GCP with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) and Docker.
• Infrastructure as Code via Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Strong scripting (Python, Bash) and Git.
• Systems design concepts including microservices, RESTful APIs, and integration techniques.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data management best practices.
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and container orchestration familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and optimize Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Observability Cloud environments.
• Build telemetry data pipelines using OpenTelemetry Collector, SignalFx Smart Agents, and Splunk forwarders.
• Design dashboards, real-time charts, and alerting using SPL or SignalFlow.
• Instrument cloud-native microservices (Java, Python, Go, Node.js) for traces, metrics, and logs.
• Collaborate with SRE and Development teams to define SLIs/SLOs and materialize them with Splunk ecosystem.
• Maintain documentation aligned with SDLC and security best practices.
