Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Senior Observability Systems Engineer to strengthen reliability and performance of critical digital services. You will work hands-on with Dynatrace and ThousandEyes, build automation, and partner with diverse teams to improve monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.

This role blends platform engineering, automation, DevOps, and observability expertise, supporting digital systems that enable care across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
• 5–7 years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related technical engineering role.
• Hands-on experience with Dynatrace across APM, infrastructure, RUM, and Dynatrace Query Language.
• Experience with Cisco ThousandEyes for synthetic testing and WAN monitoring.
• Experience using Terraform for configuration as code, including Dynatrace provider.
• Experience with Azure DevOps; familiarity with GitHub Enterprise.
• Strong Python and JavaScript for automation and tooling.
• Experience developing Dynatrace extensions and CI/CD observability in Azure.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and optimize enterprise observability platforms like Dynatrace and ThousandEyes.
• Build dashboards, alerts, management zones, and synthetic tests for proactive monitoring.
• Develop configuration-as-code with Terraform and manage pipelines in Azure DevOps (GitHub Enterprise transition).
• Create and maintain Dynatrace extensions to expand monitoring coverage.
• Implement observability for DevOps in Azure, with instrumentation and quality gates in CI/CD.
• Onboard apps and infra to observability platforms with proper instrumentation and data validation.
• Automate alerting and remediation to reduce MTTR and improve uptime.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, network, and security teams to standardize observability.
