Job summary

UC San Diego Health invites applications for an OB/GYN sonographer in the Maternal Fetal Medicine and Ob/Gyn team. You will perform early obstetrical ultrasound to confirm pregnancy location, fetal cardiac activity, dating, and assess uterus and adnexa using transabdominal and transvaginal approaches.

Cross-trained in perinatal obstetric ultrasound including detailed anatomical surveys, fetal growth, and cervical length, with reporting via EMR and structured templates.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months.
• Commitment to continued education in MFM ultrasound (15 CMEs, 20 CMEs for Principal) every 36 months.
• Recent OB ultrasound experience in a similar role and setting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sonographic assessment of maternal-fetal conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform early obstetrical ultrasound to confirm pregnancy location, fetal cardiac activity, and dating.
• Assess maternal uterus and adnexa using transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound.
• Cross-train to perform detailed perinatal obstetric ultrasound examinations including anatomical surveys, fetal growth, and cervical length assessments.
• Review cases with care team and generate preliminary reports using structured reporting software.
• Familiarity with imaging IT issues and troubleshoot as needed.
