Job summary

Utica National Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial General Liability Specialist to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve primarily non-litigated New York CGL claims with moderate complexity. You will interpret coverage, draft letters, and handle risk transfer while consulting supervisors on more complex matters.

The role requires 5+ years in claims handling, knowledge of NY venues, and the ability to work independently, potentially mentoring junior team members within our Charlotte

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of claim handling experience with commercial general liability experience preferred.
• Experience in handling litigated files preferred.
• Knowledge of New York venues strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve commercial general liability claims in a fair and timely manner.
• Thoroughly evaluate and analyze coverage and draft comprehensive coverage position letters.
• Manage the defense of more complex regional commercial general liability claims in multiple jurisdictions in accordance with leading practices.
• Manage non-litigated and some litigated claims.
• Operate on an independent basis with little supervision and settle claims within assigned authority.
• Attend mediations, trials and hearings as needed with insureds, agents, and legal representatives.
• Review court decisions, laws and coverage interpretations and have broad knowledge of the law and claim practices.
• Able to work independently and mentor lesser experienced team members.
