Job summary

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing for an on-site, full-time role. The position oversees nursing divisions, staffing, and quality of care within a comprehensive care environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; MSN preferred.
• Current New Jersey RN licensure is required.
• BLS and ACLS are required.
• IV therapy certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in developing and implementing goals of the assigned division and evaluating progress toward the goals.
• Participates in selecting and hiring staff in the division; supervises division staff, initiates disciplinary action, including terminations; provides input into performance appraisals, promotions, raises.
• Manages division staffing plan, adapts work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels and mix; communicates needs to Clinical Directors and staff for implementation.
• Ensures safe and professional patient care by enforcing standards and identifying staff education needs; recommends methods to improve patient care and staff competence.
• Provides unit staff with information for therapeutic and effective patient care management; monitors patient care delivery.
• Participates in QA/PI programs, identifies issues, and helps implement monitors.
• Investigates unit occurrences and communicates findings.
• Acts as liaison between unit, Clinical Directors and ancillary departments; resolves problems to maintain quality of care.
• Maintains departmental reports and collects data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
• Supports budget development; recommends efficiency and cost-effectiveness improvements.
• Maintains policies, procedures and infection control standards.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

MSN preferred

Current NJ licensure as RN
