Job summary

UPMC Senior Professional Staff Nurse II is a Registered Nurse who leads patient care, partners with physicians and the care team to improve practice through process improvement, and sets standards for level and quality of care.

This role emphasizes independent judgment, collaboration, and supervision across the continuum of care, with a focus on patient outcomes and teamwork with families, physicians and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates passion for developing others, precepts students, graduate nurses and new hires, analyzes clinical situations to identify learning opportunities to improve patient care practices.
• Serves as a unit leader in areas such as clinical expertise, teacher, resource nurse, and/or evidence-based practice, providing feedback and promoting quality improvement.
• Applies the nursing process within Relationship Based Care, creating a healing environment, formulating daily goals and plans of care with patient partnership.
• Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement, participates in teams launching innovations in patient care or workforce health.
