Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Shielding/Structures specialist for submarine engineering. You will perform shielding analyses, design shield constructions, and drive methods to reduce construction costs, while advancing the shielding group in collaboration with partners like NNL and Electric Boat.

Requires engineering degree with experience; offers relocation support and a strong benefits package as part of a full-time on-site role in Newport News, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program; 9+ years exempt experience.
• Master's degree with 7+ years relevant professional experience.
• Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience.
• US citizenship is required to start; candidate must meet requirement to obtain clearance if applicable.

Responsabilités

• Conduct shielding analyses for submarine designs and growth.
• Develop shielding designs and shielding construction methods.
• Lead construction cost and span reduction efforts for shielding.
• Contribute to ongoing development of the shielding group
• Collaborate with NNL and Electric Boat on shielding initiatives
