Job summary

NextEra Energy is seeking a Senior Nuclear Operations Training Instructor to lead the design, development, and delivery of operator training for the Duane Arnold restart in Palo, IA. You will shape future nuclear professionals to operate safely and reliably and mentor other instructors.

This role emphasizes hands-on teaching, simulator operation, and rigorous assessment to maintain high standards of nuclear excellence and readiness for plant startup and ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED.
• Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience.
• Experience: 7+ years.
• Nuclear Experience: 7+ years.
• Upon hire, SRO certification must be obtained for the site.
• Bachelor’s in a technical field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Related industry OR nuclear operations training experience: 8+ years.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, implements and presents integrated systems training and initial operator and requalification training programs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Operates the simulator and classroom display instruction system during training in accordance with approved procedures.
• Develops and administers written and oral examinations to include simulator and plant observation.
• Evaluates and documents operator candidate knowledge of controls and systems.
• Revises instructional materials to reflect changes in plant design, current plant practices, regulations, and/or operating philosophies.
• Provides direction to less experienced instructors and function as program lead.
• Maintains a senior reactor operator certification or license for the site where instruction duties are being performed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Specific Description

We’re seeking aSenior Nuclear Operations Training Instructor to play a pivotal role in the historic restart of Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo, Iowa. In this high-impact position, you’ll lead the development and delivery of operations training programs that prepare the next generation of nuclear professionals to safely and reliably operate one of the nation’s returning nuclear facilities. As a training instructor your role is focused on developing, coaching, and mentoring operations professionals to meet the highest standards of nuclear excellence.
This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your nuclear operations experience to develop and instruct licensed and non-licensed operators, strengthen operational excellence, and help build a world-class operations organization. As part of our restart effort, you’ll directly influence the readiness, performance, and success of the plant’s future operating workforce.
