Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a nuclear engineer with expertise in nuclear power plant core design and operations. The role supports the Tritium Technology Program and collaborates with TVA on PWR core design and fuel analyses.

Qualifications

• BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant experience -OR- MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant experience -OR- PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Preferred Qualifications: PhD with 5 years of related work or educational experience; Master's with 7 years; Bachelor's with 10 years; experience in a field directly relevant to PWR core design; ability to draw technically defensible conclusions from limited information; knowledge of NRC or NNSA practices and operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop nuclear fuel and core designs.
• Oversee vendor fuel design safety limits to support reload analyses and plant operations.
• Lead tritium production related tasks for WBN Unit 1 and Unit 2.
• Coordinate with TVA and PNNL teams to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff.
