Job summary

The Nuclear Company is hiring a Compliance Manager to own legal and regulatory compliance for a highly regulated nuclear project portfolio. You will interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical guidance for engineers, project leaders, and executives, collaborating with regulators and investors.

You will join the Legal team as the first dedicated compliance hire, shaping policies, training staff, and guiding risk-based decisions in a fast-growing startup environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and give clear, pragmatic advice to non-lawyers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise leadership on legal and regulatory obligations across the nuclear project lifecycle.
• Monitor and interpret NRC regulations, DoE requirements, and applicable laws.
• Manage compliance with export controls, sanctions, and related regimes.
• Support security obligations, including clearances and protected information handling.
• Oversee anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance, due diligence on partners.
• Coordinate with outside counsel, regulators, auditors, and investors.
• Review contracts for compliance with applicable terms and advise the Legal team.
