Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a seasoned Controller for a permanent role in the DC metro area. The position is primarily remote with occasional on-site meetings for local staff in the DC-Metro region.

You will serve as the principal accounting officer, lead all accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance for nonprofit reporting, and drive improvements in close timelines. You will supervise a 5–10+ person team, coordinate audits, and oversee grants, contracts, and donor restrictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Active Certified Public Accountant license.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting/financial management in nonprofit settings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal accounting officer and lead accounting operations.
• Ensure GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards compliance.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with improved timelines.
• Oversee internal/external financial statements, reports, and disclosures.
• Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and policies.
