Job summary

Hampton Nonprofit Management in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Senior Accountant to elevate financial stewardship across multiple client accounts in the nonprofit sector. This remote-first, 35-hour-per-week role offers meaningful client advisory work, complex reconciliations, and multi-entity reporting in a mission-driven boutique setting.

You will own month-end close, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, mentor junior staff, and partner with clients to translate financial data into strategic insights

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Customer service focused with great communication, both internally and with our clients.
• Ability to self-manage multiple priorities and overlapping deadlines.
• Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
• Personal drive to make a meaningful difference in your community.

Responsibilities

• Keep a clean general ledger for multiple client accounts with timely journal entries, AP, AR, and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end close for accuracy and completeness.
• Support junior accounting staff and on-site client accountants with technical best practices.
• Make decisions that prioritize mission impact and programmatic results.
• Be a trusted, valued member of client management teams.
