Job summary

SpectrumCareers represents a well-established national nonprofit public health organization seeking a Senior Accountant to own the general ledger, oversee month-end close, and partner with leadership. The role reports to the Controller and CFO in a small, collaborative team.

The position offers a hybrid schedule (in-office Tue-Thu; remote Mon-Fri) and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven organization that values accuracy, internal controls, and thoughtful process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with nonprofit G/L and month-end close.
• Strong nonprofit fund and grant accounting knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations).
• ERP experience (Acumatica, ADP, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Workday).

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
• Lead or support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and allocations.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Account for restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and contributions per nonprofit GAAP.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for leadership.
• Support the annual audit and Form 990 preparation, including schedules and auditor requests.
• Reconcile payroll and benefits activity processed through ADP.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Find and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Take on special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
