Job summary

JFL Consulting, LLC is seeking a NOC Lead to direct the NOC shifts and oversee incident management from Springfield, VA. You will guide escalation decisions and ensure timely resolution of complex outages, while mentoring the shift team.

The role demands 10+ years in NOC/engineering, leadership experience, and strong routing, switching, and security knowledge, with SD-WAN and network automation familiarity. Bachelor’s degree and relevant certs are expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of NOC or engineering experience.
• 3+ years in a senior or lead engineering role.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cyber security/IT/CS.
• CCNA/CCNP/CISSP certification or equivalent.
• Expert routing, switching and security knowledge.
• Experience with large-scale network design and SD-WAN.
• Experience with network automation (Ansible, Python or equivalent).
• Ability to work night/weekend/holiday shifts.
• Proven mentoring of junior staff.
• Calm, decisive leadership during high-pressure incidents.
• Security clearance: preferred but not required.
• Zero-trust network architecture experience.
• Experience with SIPRNet/NIPRNet environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 4 escalation and resolution for complex network faults.

Job Overview

We're looking for a NOC Lead who is the senior authority for the NOC shifts. This role is responsible for directing the shift teams, managing alert queues, making escalation decisions, and ensuring all open incidents are properly tracked and handed off.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 4 escalation and resolution for the most complex network faults and outages
• Direct the daily operations of the shift team across the NOC
• Monitor alert queues and ensure Tier 1-3 analysts and engineers are triaging within SLA standards
• Manage escalation decisions such as activating Tier 3/IR, on-call engineers, and management chain as appropriate
• Manage the shift handoff process, ensuring a turnover briefing is produced and delivered at each handoff window
• Mentor, manage and train the NOC staff
• Develop, modify, and ensure all playbooks are being followed correctly and appropriately updated
• Maintain situational awareness across all incoming alerts, calls, network monitoring, and active triage.
• Coordinate with SOC staff on network issues that may have a security component
• Review and verify all shift logs and all required reporting
  
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of NOC or engineering experience
• At least 3+ years in a senior or lead engineering role
• Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field. In lieu of degree, four additional years of experience in a NOC, SOC, IT security, or network engineering role
• One of the following certifications, equivalent or better: CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP (with a strong network engineering background)
• Expert-level proficiency in enterprise routing, switching, and security
• Experience with large-scale network architecture and design
• Experience with SD-WAN platforms
• Experience with network automation such as Ansible, Python, or equivalent
• Ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating schedule
• Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring junior analysts and engineers
• Ability to remain calm and direct operations during high-pressure incidents
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance preferred but not required
• Experience with zero-trust network architecture
• Experience with classified network environments (SIPRNet, NIPRNet)
