Job summary

PMA Companies is seeking an in-house counsel member to lead the litigation of workers’ compensation claims in New Jersey. You will represent insured and self-insured employers, prepare pleadings, and conduct depositions of claimants, insureds and experts.

You will also negotiate settlements and advise clients on developments in workers’ compensation law. The role requires strong research, analytical, and negotiation skills, with the ability to travel to various NJ locations and collaborate

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed with the NJ Bar Association.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of workers' compensation litigation experience representing insured and self-insured employers.

Responsibilities

• Represent insured and self-insured employers in NJ workers' compensation litigation.
• Prepare legal correspondence, memorandums, briefs and pleadings.
• Conduct depositions of claimants, insureds and expert witnesses.
• Negotiate settlements of litigated claims.
• Ensure compliance with Defense Counsel Guidelines and internal processes.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; provide regulatory research and analysis.
