Job summary

ABcom is seeking an experienced NICET Fire Alarm Technician for installation, programming, testing, inspection and troubleshooting of commercial fire alarm and life-safety systems. You will read plans, install panels, cables, and devices, and coordinate with project teams to ensure safe, on-time completion.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II certification (Level III preferred), with at least 4 years of relevant experience and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II certification is required; Level III is highly preferred.
• At least 4 years of recent commercial fire alarm installation, service, programming, testing, and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, electrical and building codes, and fire alarm practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fire alarm plans, and shop drawings.
• Experience programming and servicing fire alarm systems from major manufacturers; multi-platform experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, test, inspect, service, and troubleshoot fire alarm and life-safety systems.
• Install and terminate fire alarm control panels, notification appliances, initiating devices, modules, power supplies, and low-voltage cabling.
• Read and interpret plans, riser diagrams, point lists, and sequence‑of‑operations documents.
• Perform system testing and support inspections with customers, contractors, and AHJs.
• Prepare accurate documentation and daily reports; maintain compliance with codes and standards.
• Travel locally and occasionally out of state; participate in on-call coverage as needed.
