Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Hardware Engineer for NFC Digital Key to design and validate NFC subsystems in vehicle access. You will work at the intersection of hardware, RF, security, and software with teams across GM and supplier partners.

You will lead hardware architecture, bring-up, and validation efforts, ensuring robust NFC performance in real automotive environments with secure element integration and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/related field.
  • 5+ years RF or wireless hardware experience.
  • Experience delivering NFC-based access systems in automotive or consumer products.
  • Familiarity with CCC Digital Key specs and ISO/IEC standards (14443/15693, 18092).
  • Strong understanding of EM fundamentals and interference in dense automotive designs.
  • Experience with NFC reader antennas/coils for vehicle integration.
  • Experience with short-range coexistence testing (NFC, UWB, BLE, Wi‑Fi, GNSS).
  • Excellent written/verbal cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Architect NFC hardware and set performance targets for readers and Secure Element.
  • Lead schematic/PCB reviews for NFC and Digital Key controllers and readers.
  • Bring up hardware in lab, perform tuning, calibration, and diagnostics.
  • Develop NFC test plans for real-world vehicle access scenarios and conditions.
  • Coordinate with CCC, Digital Key, and vehicle-access teams on system alignment.
