OHSU seeks a Staff Scientist to lead a multidisciplinary preclinical cancer research laboratory focused on CNS tumors, tumor biology, and therapeutic resistance. The role combines hands-on bench work with scientific leadership, SOP development, and cross-functional coordination across cores and animal studies.

The candidate will design and optimize experiments, maintain rigorous data quality and reproducibility, mentor staff, and contribute to grants and publications.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in cancer biology, etc.
• Minimum of 7 years postdoctoral/post-PhD research experience.
• Strong peer-reviewed publication record in cancer or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with preclinical experiments and in vivo cancer models.
• Experience with small-animal imaging platforms (IVIS) and biosafety compliance.

Responsabilités

• Design, execute, analyze, troubleshoot, and interpret rigorous preclinical studies.
• Translate PI priorities into experimental plans and timelines; develop new models and workflows.
• Apply controls, statistics, and study design; produce publication-quality figures.
• Oversee wet-lab operations, SOPs, data QC, and core facilities coordination.
• Lead training and mentorship of staff, students, and fellows.
• Contribute to grants, manuscripts, and scientific communication.
