Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced hardware engineer to help design our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for AWS datacenters.

The role focuses on high-speed digital design, modular chassis products, and collaboration with Asian ODM/JDM partners to deliver mass-produced networking hardware. You will lead architectural definition, select key components, and work closely with PCB designers, test engineers, and manufacturing to ensure robust, scalable solutions for

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• BSEE with 10+ years experience in hardware board and systems development and 5+ years with Ethernet switching fabrics, PHY and SerDes, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR memory, network processors, I2C, USB.
• Experience with high-speed PCB design and CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL/Verilog.
• Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment.
• Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams including mechanical, HW, SI, diagnostic and manufacturing engineers and outside vendors.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural definition, component selection, and detailed design for modular chassis-based products.
• Collaborate with PCB designers, test engineers, and manufacturing to transition designs to mass production.
• Define and implement testing, simulation, timing and EMC analyses for high-speed networking hardware.
• Work with Asian ODM/JDM partners in development and manufacturing processes.
