Description
This role supports the design, operation, and optimization of secure enterprise networks that underpin satellite and ground-based data systems. The position combines deep hands-on networking expertise with Linux system administration and limited automation to ensure resilient, high-performance mission environments.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain secure Layer 2 / Layer 3 enterprise networks supporting satellite and ground system data flows
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco networking infrastructure, including routing, switching, and firewall platforms
- Administer Linux-based systems (RHEL) supporting network services and operational tooling
- Implement and manage firewall solutions, enforcing security controls within classified environments
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform root-cause analysis to maintain system reliability
- Support virtualized environments leveraging VMware technologies
- Develop and maintain basic automation or operational scripts, with a preference for Python, to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with security and platform teams to ensure compliance with government and program security requirements
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking, including L2/L3 routing and switching
- Demonstrated expertise with Cisco platforms, including Nexus, ASA, and core routing/switching technologies
- Solid Linux system administration experience, specifically with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Experience supporting VMware-based environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and optimize performance in production systems
- Experience implementing and maintaining firewall solutions in secure or classified environments
- Scripting or automation experience, preferably using Python
Security & Certifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly, required on day one
- Ability to obtain Security+ certification within 90 days of hire
