Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks an IT Network Security Team Lead to oversee cybersecurity policy enforcement and to guide a team of IT security professionals within the National Library of Medicine project in Bethesda, MD.

The role requires onsite presence 3–5 days per week and hands-on leadership in security operations. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in security, CISSP or equivalent, and experience with Cisco/Fortigate/Juniper/Palo Alto platforms.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Minimum Work Experience: 10 years (8 with MS; 14 without degree)
• Specialized Experience: 5 years of system administration; 7 years system security administration
• Experience with Cisco/Fortigate, Juniper, and Palo Alto security platforms
• Proficiency with network analysis tools (Nmap, Wireshark, tcpdump)
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/UDP, OSI, VLANs)
• Experience leading a team of 3–5 network security engineers
• CISSP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: design and integrate security products into the enterprise network
• Mitigate cybersecurity risks, trends, and vulnerabilities
• Oversee development and enforcement of security strategies and policies
• Review new systems for security risks and integration issues
• Coordinate protection efforts per HHS and NIH directives
• Team Management: supervise and mentor 3–5 security engineers
• Serve as escalation point for incidents and challenges
• Program Oversight: coordinate with Incident Response and agencies; track remediation
• Operational Duties: coordinate firewall upgrades and SSL VPN management
