Job summary

Western Midstream is seeking a Staff IT Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the company's network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, with a focus on security and reliability. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with OT/SCADA teams.

The role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to communicate with field technicians and executives, with a hybrid schedule and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Fermin Toro University.
• 5 years of Oil & Gas experience in Wireless Field Operations Support.
• Over 16 years of experience in Industrial Network Engineering.
• Strong proficiency in routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, static routing, VLANs.
• RF planning, design, and deployment for wireless networks (PTP/MP).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise routing and switching infrastructure across corporate, field, and remote sites.
• Develop network architecture standards, including IP addressing schemes, VLAN segmentation, routing protocols, and redundancy strategies.
• Lead capacity planning and lifecycle management for core, distribution, and access-layer hardware.
• Evaluate and integrate networks from acquired facilities or businesses, incl. migration planning and configuration standardization.
• Troubleshoot complex, multi-site network issues involving routing, switching, QoS, and WAN performance.
• Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, and configuration backups/version control.
• Support change management processes for network modifications, including risk assessment and rollback planning.
• Mentor junior engineers; review designs for quality and standards compliance.
