Job summary

Fortanix is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate a secure, scalable network infrastructure across data centers and cloud environments. You will partner with Engineering, SaasOps, and Customer Success to deliver resilient connectivity and drive automation and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience designing and operating large-scale data center and cloud network infrastructure with focus on scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, security, load balancing, virtualization, and SDN.
  • Automation-first mindset with experience using Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools to automate provisioning, configuration, and operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems and troubleshooting across network, OS, and application layers.
  • Experience with NFV and virtualized network environments.
  • Familiarity with Juniper platforms and JunOS.
  • Experience with network monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and incident response.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and operating a secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure that supports our global platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable connectivity across our data centers and cloud environments while driving continuous improvements in automation, performance, and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and evolving data center network architectures, including planning, implementing, and optimizing new network deployments to support current and future business needs.
  • Ensuring the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of our production and development network infrastructure by proactively identifying improvements and maintaining high availability.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, SaasOps, and Customer Success teams to design, deploy, and support networking solutions across private and public cloud environments.
  • Managing, configuring, and monitoring network infrastructure, including implementing configuration management, network automation, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure operational efficiency and service reliability.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation to provide timely incident response and ensure the continuous availability of mission-critical network services.
  • Coordinate and execute data center visits for infrastructure deployment, server maintenance, and operational support.
  • Driving continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies, enhancing operational processes, maintaining technical documentation, and contributing to network standards and best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience designing and operating large-scale data center and cloud network infrastructure with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Strong knowledge of modern networking technologies, including routing, switching, network security, load balancing, virtualization, and software-defined networking.
  • An automation-first mindset with experience using Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools to automate network provisioning, configuration, and operations.
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux systems and the ability to troubleshoot across network, operating system, and application layers.
  • Experience with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and virtualized network environments.
  • Familiarity with Juniper networking platforms and JunOS is highly desirable.
  • Experience with network monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and incident response in production environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross‑functional engineering teams.
  • A proactive, ownership‑driven approach with a passion for continuous learning, automation, and operational excellence.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may includeadditionalcompensation in the form of bonus,equityor commissions. Thebasecompensation range for this role is $120,000- $150,000/ Year.
