Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Network Engineer to join a federal program in Newington, VA. The role focuses on designing, securing, and maintaining resilient network architectures for government customers in high-stakes environments.

The engineer will lead routing/switching deployments (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP), manage Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/ACI environments, and implement Zero Trust security while using SolarWinds, NetFlow, and Wireshark for proactive monitoring.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years of related network engineering experience.
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Expertise in BGP/OSPF/EIGRP routing and switching.
Experience with LAN/WAN architecture, design, deployment.
Proficiency with monitoring tools: SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark.
Hands-on with firewalls, VPNs, QoS, and load balancers.
Strong background with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/ACI platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, secure, and maintain resilient network architectures for government customers.
Architect and optimize LAN/WAN and data center/network solutions for scalability and continuity.
Lead deployment and lifecycle management of routing and switching technologies (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP).
Configure Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and ACI environments per standards.
Develop and implement security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, Zero Trust.
Monitor network health, performance, and capacity; use SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark to preempt issues.
