Job summary

Paul Hastings seeks a Network Engineer in New York to design, implement, and operate a global network infrastructure across multiple locations. You will work with SD‑WAN, BGP/OSPF, and on‑prem to cloud connectivity (Azure/AWS) to ensure secure, high‑performing services for the firm’s clients and teams.

The role requires deep routing expertise, QoS discipline, and collaboration with distributed teams to drive technical innovation and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant certifications preferred (CCNP, CCIE, AWS/Azure networking).
• 6+ years of experience in network engineering.
• Expertise with advanced routing protocols (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP) and Wi‑Fi design.
• Proven experience in global WAN and SD‑WAN deployments.
• Hands-on with on‑premises to cloud connectivity (Azure/AWS).
• Experience with cloud networking (VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute).
• Experience in QoS configuration and traffic engineering for enterprise networks.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to global WAN operations with high availability and performance.
• Deploy and optimize SD-WAN solutions for agility and cost-efficiency.
• Design and maintain networks using BGP/OSPF/EIGRP.
• Implement on-premises to cloud connectivity and hybrid architectures.
• Set up cloud networking in Azure and AWS, including VPCs, VPNs, and Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
• Ensure secure integration of cloud services with enterprise networks.
• Apply QoS policies for critical apps like VoIP and video.
• Monitor latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization.
• Collaborate with cross‑location teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Maintain uptime, security, and compliance with standards (ISO27001, NIST).
• Document configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Engage with IT leadership and vendors to align network capabilities.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and occasional non‑standard hours.
