Job summary

The Network Engineer III at EPB in Chattanooga designs, configures, and troubleshoots the data, video, and voice network. This role provides high-level technical support for ISP and network management applications and leads small teams on critical projects.

It requires developing new techniques and procedures, maintaining thorough documentation, and ensuring service levels across EPB’s residential and commercial broadband services, with after-hours duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex networks.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring teams.
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, and network protocols.
• Ability to develop and maintain system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work on projects implementing network architecture and provide technical support.
• Mentor inter-departmental teams to ensure project success.
• Develop and maintain system diagrams, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Maintain carrier-class consistency and performance of network devices and services.
• Design, implement, and manage EPB’s broadband services.
• Conduct audits and maintenance to sustain service levels.
• Provide after-hours support 24/7/365.
• Collaborate with other engineers in Telecom, Systems, Video.
• Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
• Develop and test new products, troubleshoot complex issues, and escalate as needed.
