Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team in a hybrid role in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure across locations.

You will lead LAN/WAN design, configure routers/switches/firewalls, and ensure security with VPNs and IDS/IPS while mentoring junior staff and driving modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network engineering and administration.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Experience with major vendors' hardware and network security basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage LANs, WANs and wireless networks.
• Configure routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and optimize.
• Ensure security with VPNs, IDS/IPS and related controls.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Document networks with diagrams and configurations.
• Collaborate with system admins on infra projects.
• Plan upgrades and migrations; stay current with tech trends.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
