JSI in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Network Engineer III to advance fiber access architectures on the Broadband IP team. You will lead high-level design, multi-vendor integration, and client-facing engagements to deliver scalable solutions.

This senior role emphasizes platform evaluations, HLD/LLD documentation, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, IT, or related field.
• Vendor certifications (e.g., Calix CEx, CCNP, JNCIP) required.
• 5–8 years in network engineering with emphasis on fiber access and multi-vendor integration.
• Experience with high-capacity PON platforms and core edge integration.
• Ability to translate complex architectures into client recommendations.
• Proficiency in technical writing and client-facing engineering deliverables (HLDs/LLDs).
• Strong interpersonal skills for client meetings and vendor coordination.
• Understanding of project budgets, timelines, and billable-hour environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a solid generalist networking foundation while serving as a SME in fiber access architectures (GPON, XGS-PON, 25G/50G PON).
• Architect large-scale multi-vendor PON access networks with core edge routing and IP/MPLS backbones.
• Lead evaluations and platform selection of OLT/ONT vendors for client RFPs.
• Review and approve HLD documents, migration strategies, and technical specs for client projects.
• Mentor Level I/II engineers on standards, troubleshooting, and deliverables.
• Provide advisory and cross-functional engineering support and root-cause analysis.
