Job summary

Prince William County Government is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, operate, and modernize a large enterprise network serving public safety and county services across 100+ locations.

You will lead modernization initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive implementation projects using SDA, Catalyst Center, and enterprise routing. The role requires after-hours support and strong collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 7+ years in enterprise network design and support.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise networks and public sector environments.
• Strong knowledge of SDA, Catalyst Center, and network automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain SDA fabrics across enterprise locations.
• Engineer and administer Catalyst Center for automation, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
• Configure OSPF, BGP, route redistribution on Cisco/Juniper platforms.
• Administer Juniper routers and WAN connectivity.
• Design and maintain wireless using WLCs and SDA Fabric Wireless.
• Support 802.1X with Cisco ISE; manage Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM.
• Manage dark fiber and Metro-Ethernet WAN links.
• Utilize ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, Riverbed NetIM for monitoring and RCA.
• Troubleshoot L1–L7 with captures and analysis; mentor junior engineers.
• Lead modernization projects with minimal downtime; participate in after-hours maintenance.
