Job summary

Roblox is expanding its Data Center Network Engineering team to design, deploy, and operate the large-scale DC network that supports GPU clusters for AI workloads. The role emphasizes cross-team collaboration, qualification of new technologies, and hands-on deployment of high-speed networking.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing and deploying large-scale data center fabrics (CLOS).
• Experience with GPU clusters or AI/ML networking.
• Proficiency deploying and managing 400G and 800G hardware.
• Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting large-scale BGP deployments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6.
• Preferred: QoS, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, DWDM, NAT, open-source hardware and software.

The Data Center Network Engineering (DNE) is a pod within the Physical Networking team and owns the design, deployment, and operation of Roblox's large-scale data center network. This includes server-layer connectivity, intra and inter-DC connectivity. The team is building High-Performance Networking (HPN) fabrics, deploying 400G/800G networking, and scaling GPU clusters to support AI training and inference.

You will:

• Drive the design, deployment, and operations of Roblox's large-scale data center network, including the networking for GPU clusters that support training and inference workloads.
• Design, qualify, and validate new technologies and hardware for scalable solutions.
• Coordinate data center builds and projects with multiple teams, including weekly cross-team calls.
• Work with Network Reliability Systems, Data Center Ops, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain, and Compute/ML teams to address network challenges early.
• Contribute to automation and telemetry that improve efficiency, reliability, and visibility.

You have:

• 6+ years of expertise designing and deploying large-scale data center fabrics (CLOS).
• Experience with GPU clusters or AI/ML networking.
• Proficiency deploying and managing 400G and 800G hardware.
• Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting large-scale BGP deployments.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS), with hands‑on experience in IPv4 and IPv6.
• Preferred: QoS, IS‑IS, MPLS, RSVP‑TE, DWDM, commercial NAT, open‑source hardware and software.

For roles that are based at our data center in Ashburn, VA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full‑time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range

$151,820 — $191,250 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
