Job summary
City of Long Beach is seeking a Communication Specialist V in the Infrastructure Services Bureau, Network Division. The role requires expertise in Cisco design and architecture, routing/switching, security, wireless tech, DNA/Catalyst, and Zero Trust, with duties to create templates and firmware standards for city networks.
Responsibilities include maintaining core network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches), assessing risks, and updating documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Radio/TV or related field, plus 1 year of related experience.
- OR an Associate's degree with 3 years of related experience, including at least 1 year as Systems Technician.
- OR a 1-year certificate program with 4 years of related experience including at least 1 year as Systems Technician.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, install, repair, plan and design communication systems and equipment.
- Configure and upgrade servers, routers, switches, and network hardware.
- Develop cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies.
- Represent the City in meetings with regulatory bodies.
