Job summary

fal is building the generic network infrastructure powering a scalable AI product ecosystem. You will design, deploy, and operate public and private networks across data centers and cloud environments, ensuring low latency, high reliability, and strong security for our serverless platform and compute clusters.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of production network experience, strong Linux networking, BGP expertise, and a track record in private peering, VXLAN overlays, and modern tunneling

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production network infrastructure.
• Strong Linux networking fundamentals including routing, namespaces, NAT, and firewalling.
• Deep BGP knowledge: route selection, communities, filtering, convergence.
• Experience managing ASNs, IP space, BGP announcements, IPAM, and IRR.
• Design of private IPv4/IPv6 address plans with cross-customer/region conflict prevention.
• Production VXLAN overlay networking experience.
• Production IPsec, WireGuard, or Tailscale experience.
• Experience with anycast DNS and mDNS.
• Experience with private peering and cloud interconnects.
• Linux networking performance tuning: CC, Qdisc, buffers, MTU, RSS/RPS/XPS.
• Packet-level troubleshooting with iproute2, tc, ethtool, tcpdump, Wireshark.
• Ansible or equivalent network automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, validate, and operate public and private networks across platforms.
• Use AI to automate network provisioning, configuration, validation, and recovery.
• Manage ASNs, public IP prefixes, and private address space lifecycle.
• Build and operate BGP routing, policies, and failover strategies.
• Announce IP ranges from physical infrastructure and cloud providers (BYOIP).
• Establish private peering with customers, partners, data centers, and cloud providers.
• Build private and overlay networks using VXLAN, IPsec, WireGuard, and Tailscale.
• Operate DNS networking patterns including anycast DNS and mDNS.
• Tune the Linux networking stack for high throughput and low latency.
• Develop network observability, tooling, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams on connectivity and security requirements.
