Job summary

ASEC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and sustain enterprise and tactical networks supporting Navy LVC training systems. Based at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, VA Beach, you will maintain complex networks enabling real-time data exchange and large-scale exercises with Navy, Joint, and coalition participants.

The role requires DoD RMF-based security, DoD/Navy network experience, and leadership during exercises. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering, or a related field and 9+ years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience configuring and supporting enterprise network devices in classified and unclassified environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting secure network architectures for dispersed operations.
  • Experience implementing boundary defense, network segmentation, and access controls per RMF requirements.
  • Experience supporting DoD/Navy/NAVAIR networks and providing technical leadership during exercises.

Job description

What You’ll Do

The Senior Network Engineer will design, implement, secure, and sustain the network infrastructure supporting Navy Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems. The selected candidate will maintain complex enterprise and tactical networks that enable distributed simulation environments, real‑time data exchange, and large‑scale combat training exercises involving Navy, Joint, and coalition participants. This position will be based at the NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise and tactical network architectures.
  • Support classified and unclassified training networks.
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management systems.
  • Maintain network availability and performance across geographically dispersed training locations.
  • Support connectivity between live platforms, simulators, command centers, and remote training participants.
  • Implement boundary defense solutions and network segmentation.
  • Maintain firewall rules and access controls.
  • Support cybersecurity audits, vulnerability remediation, and RMF compliance.
  • Monitor network traffic for anomalies and security incidents.
  • Serve as a technical lead during major fleet and coalition training events.
  • Monitor network health throughout exercises.
  • Rapidly resolve connectivity issues affecting training realism and operational objectives.
  • This position may require up to 25% annual travel.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field and a minimum of 9 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise and tactical network infrastructures. Additional, related networking experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting enterprise network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management systems in classified and unclassified environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting secure network architectures supporting geographically dispersed operations, distributed users, and mission‑critical systems.
  • Experience implementing boundary defense solutions, network segmentation, access controls, and cybersecurity best practices in accordance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, analyzing network traffic, resolving complex connectivity issues, and supporting vulnerability remediation to ensure high availability and operational readiness.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, or NAVAIR networks, including providing technical leadership during operational exercises, training events, or other mission‑critical activities.
Certification Requirements
  • Must possess DoD Approved Baseline Certification as Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (e.g., GSEC, Security+ CE, CySA, PenTest+), along with any one of the following certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center
Security Clearance Requirement
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Salary Range
  • The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000, commensurate with an individual’s experience, qualifications, and skill set.
