Job summary

ASEC in Lexington Park, MD is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and sustain enterprise and tactical networks supporting Navy LVC training systems. The role is on-site with periodic travel to Virginia Beach and potential remote government-site work.

The ideal candidate has 9 years of DoD/network experience, RMF expertise, and advanced degrees plus industry certifications. U.S. citizenship and Top Secret clearance required.

Qualifications

  • 9 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise and tactical network infrastructures.
  • Experience configuring and supporting enterprise network devices in classified and unclassified environments.
  • Experience designing secure network architectures for distributed operations and mission-critical systems.
  • RMF compliance and boundary defense implementation in DoD environments.
  • Monitoring network performance, traffic analysis, and vulnerability remediation for high availability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise and tactical network architectures across locations.
  • Support classified and unclassified training networks and connectivity between live platforms and simulators.
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and NMS.
  • Lead during major fleet and coalition training events and audits.
  • Maintain firewall rules, access controls, and network health during exercises.

What You'll Do

The Senior Network Engineer will design, implement, secure, and sustain the network infrastructure supporting Navy Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems. The selected candidate will maintain complex enterprise and tactical networks that enable distributed simulation environments, real-time data exchange, and large-scale combat training exercises involving Navy, Joint, and coalition participants.

This position will be based fully on-site at our Lexington Park, MD office. Periodic travel to the NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach, VA, where the Global LVC Operations Center is located, will be required. Candidates interested in relocating to the Virginia Beach area may also have the option to work from the government site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise and tactical network architectures.
  • Support classified and unclassified training networks.
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management systems.
  • Maintain network availability and performance across geographically dispersed training locations.
  • Support connectivity between live platforms, simulators, command centers, and remote training participants.
  • Implement boundary defense solutions and network segmentation.
  • Maintain firewall rules and access controls.
  • Support cybersecurity audits, vulnerability remediation, and RMF compliance.
  • Monitor network traffic for anomalies and security incidents.
  • Serve as a technical lead during major fleet and coalition training events.
  • Monitor network health throughout exercises.
  • Rapidly resolve connectivity issues affecting training realism and operational objectives.
  • This position may require up to 25% annual travel.

Requirements
  • 9 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise and tactical network infrastructures. Additional, related networking experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting enterprise network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management systems in classified and unclassified environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting secure network architectures supporting geographically dispersed operations, distributed users, and mission-critical systems.
  • Experience implementing boundary defense solutions, network segmentation, access controls, and cybersecurity best practices in accordance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, analyzing network traffic, resolving complex connectivity issues, and supporting vulnerability remediation to ensure high availability and operational readiness.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, or NAVAIR networks, including providing technical leadership during operational exercises, training events, or other mission-critical activities.
Education and Certification Requirements
  • A master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems or Information Technology, or Software Engineering.
  • One of the following industry certifications: SecurityX/CASP+, CCNA, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, GDSA, GFACT

Security Clearance Requirement
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Salary Range
  • The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000, commensurate with an individual’s experience, qualifications, and skill set. ASEC is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation.
