Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design and implement network solutions across campus, data center, and cloud-connected environments. You will lead complex initiatives, coordinate dependencies, and establish high-availability architectures.

You will mentor engineers, perform root-cause analyses, and drive automation using scripting and IaC. A Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience are required; CCNP/DevNet/Aruba certs preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of progressive network engineering experience.
  • Advanced expertise in enterprise network design, routing, and switching.
  • Proficiency in network automation, scripting, or IaC approaches.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and access controls.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement network solutions across campus, data center, and cloud-connected environments.
  • Lead complex network initiatives by coordinating technical work, dependencies, and implementation activities.
  • Design and optimize routing, switching, segmentation, authentication, wireless, and high-performance network environments.
  • Contribute to automation and delivery workflows using scripting, APIs, and tooling.
  • Lead technical response for complex network incidents and restore service.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Act as escalation point for high-impact or ambiguous issues.
  • Identify recurring issues and improve operational practices, tooling, and workflows.
  • Perform performance analysis and capacity planning.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to throughput, latency, and user experience.
  • Evaluate impacts of new services, applications, and traffic patterns on shared network platforms.
  • Develop technical standards for routing, segmentation, and network security controls.
  • Implement network provisioning and configuration-management automation.
  • Validate security and access-control configurations.
  • Review network designs and proposed changes.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, incident reviews, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Produce technical documentation.
  • Participate in rotating after-hours on-call duties.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is necessary
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field is preferred
  • 5-7 years of progressive, relevant experience in Network Engineering is necessary
  • Advanced expertise in enterprise network design, routing, switching, and high-availability architectures
  • Ability to independently resolve complex, ambiguous network incidents using structured root-cause analysis
  • Experience with network performance analysis, capacity planning, and scaling to support growth
  • Proficiency in network automation, configuration management, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code approaches
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, segmentation models, and enterprise access control requirements
  • Ability to influence peers, provide technical mentorship, and collaborate across teams without formal authority
  • Demonstrated commitment to VUIT’s Guiding Principles
  • Advanced networking or automation certifications such as Cisco CCNP, DevNet Professional, Aruba ACP, or equivalent are preferred
