Job summary

Baptist Health Resource Center in Montgomery, AL, seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise network solutions. This hybrid role supports the clinical mission by ensuring maximum availability, security, and scalability of the network infrastructure.

The role partners with clinical, biomedical, security, and IT teams to translate care delivery requirements into robust network designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in enterprise network engineering.
• Experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, data center, and SD-Access technologies.
• Experience with BGP, OSPF, multicast, QoS, high availability design and network segmentation.
• Experience implementing and maintaining next generation firewalls.
• Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, or Catalyst Center APIs.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a hospital or integrated health system preferred.
• Experience with network infrastructure for EHR implementations or conversions, new hospital construction or health system mergers preferred.
• Experience with cloud network and hybrid connectivity preferred.

Responsibilities

Highlights

This is a hybrid role based in Montgomery, AL. The selected candidate must reside within commuting distance to attend the office as needed.

Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing complex network solutions across the enterprise. This role leads major infrastructure initiatives, serves as the highest operational escalation point, and ensures the network supports the clinical mission with maximum availability, security, and scalability. The Senior Network Engineer partners with clinical, biomedical, security, and system teams to translate care delivery requirements into network solutions. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in enterprise network engineering required. Experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, data center, and SD-Access technologies. Experience with BGP, OSPF, multicast, QoS, high availability design and network segmentation required. Experience implementing and maintaining next generation firewalls. Licensure/Certification

• Cisco Certified Specialist (Enterprise Core, Enterprise Wireless Design/Implementation, or Security) required
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Data Center, or Security preferred
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise Infrastructure or Enterprise Wireless preferred
• Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP), Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist, AWS Advanced Networking, or Microsoft Azure Network Engineer preferred
