Five Stones Research Corporation (5SRC) seeks energetic candidates to join our Huntsville-headquartered team. The Network Specialist IV provides senior-level network engineering support across enterprise networks, with regional leadership responsibilities for Europe or Pacific regions.

This position is contingent upon contract award. Essential duties include mastery-level design and troubleshooting across LAN/WAN, ZTA, and protocol suites, plus escalation support for more senior engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 5 years of related experience
• Alternative path: certified technical/vocational school with 10 years of related experience
• Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco systems, and Orion SolarWinds
• Mastery of TCP/IP, HTTP(S), DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and WAN/LAN protocols
• DOD 8140-compliant cyber workforce qualifications and DoD directives compliance

Responsibilities

• Provides mastery-level network engineering support across routed, switched, and LAN/WAN environments.
• Serves as a regional or enterprise-level senior technical escalation resource.
• Applies deep expertise in ZTA and network testing methodologies.
• Supports escalations beyond lower-grade network personnel.

Summary/Objective

Five Stones Research Corporation (5SRC) is seeking energetic candidates to join our established and growing Huntsville-headquartered team. Network Specialist IV provides the most senior tier of technical network engineering support, holding mastery-level expertise across enterprise network technologies, structured as remote Enterprise, Europe Regional, or Pacific Regional lead roles. THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD.

Essential Functions

• Provides mastery-level network engineering support across routed, switched, and shared LAN/WAN environments.
• Serves as a regional (Europe, Pacific) or enterprise-level senior technical escalation resource.
• Applies deep expertise in cable testing, protocol troubleshooting, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).
• Supports escalations beyond the scope of Network Specialist I–III personnel.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (g., Computer Sciences) with five (5) years’ of related experience
  • Alternative: Successful completion of a certified technical/vocational school with ten (10) years’ of related experience
• Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds with experience in ZTA and Methodologies.
• Mastery of standard networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and communication/internet standards 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.3, 802.11, 802.3u, and 802.3z.
• Direct experience with synchronous/asynchronous communications, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and other communications media used by the DoW and DHA.
• Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards and specifications.
• Mastery of routed, switched, and shared LAN environments operating current supported versions of Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, and OpenVMS, and employing routers, switches, and terminal servers, as well as local and long-haul WAN connectivity.
• Must have and maintain a certification compliant with the Network Operations Specialist "Advanced" proficiency level, work role 441, per the current DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Matrix.
• Compliance with DoDD 8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong oral and written communications skills to effectively present information to a broad audience of Government officials, medical professionals, and highly specialized technical personnel.
• Prior experience supporting OCONUS network operations in Europe or the Pacific region.
