Our client is seeking a Senior Network Enterprise Engineer to provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and architectural direction across a broad technology infrastructure and digital ecosystem.
Location: Austin, Texas
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days remote and 2 days onsite per week
At a senior level, this role supports technology leadership in defining network strategies and maintaining the organization’s architectural vision and roadmap. The environment may span broadband, cloud, data center, enterprise, IT/OT, and carrier-grade network systems and connectivity.
The Senior Network Enterprise Engineer serves as a subject matter expert across network and system design, planning, security, operations, and integration. This includes collaborating with internal teams, external customers, technology vendors, and other stakeholders to develop scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions that support mission- and business-critical systems.
This role works independently with minimal guidance and requires significant technical depth and breadth, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to balance innovation, functionality, cost, security, and operational maintainability across multiple technology domains.
What You’ll Get to Go Do
- Develop, maintain, and communicate enterprise-wide and/or carrier-grade network architecture spanning broadband, WAN/LAN, wireless, cloud connectivity, and data center interconnects.
- Define architectural standards, best practices, technology frameworks, and long-term infrastructure roadmaps.
- Design and implement network and application solutions that support current and future business needs, including hybrid cloud, multi-site enterprise environments, cybersecurity integration, and carrier-grade network systems.
- Incorporate security principles throughout the architecture lifecycle and design network security solutions including firewalls, IPS/IDS, network segmentation, and other security controls.
- Evaluate technical requirements and develop detailed specifications, architecture documentation, design recommendations, topology diagrams, and strategic planning materials.
- Support the development and execution of short- and long-term technology strategies.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise for network design, deployment, capacity planning, modernization, and system integration initiatives.
- Ensure mission-critical network reliability, business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural support during complex network outages and critical incidents.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies that improve scalability, performance, security, and operational efficiency while mitigating technical and business risks.
- Establish and maintain architectural standards, design guidelines, network management policies, and technical best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders, engineering teams, operations, cybersecurity, and other technical groups to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology architectures.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams and leadership, communicating architectural considerations, risks, recommendations, and business impacts.
- Collaborate with technology vendors on solution design, product evaluation, configuration, and implementation.
- Ensure technical solutions align with applicable regulatory, security, and compliance requirements, including NIST, NERC, PCI, FBI CJIS, and other applicable standards.
- Develop training materials and provide technical education for asset owners, software developers, system administrators, engineers, and other technology stakeholders.
- Mentor architects and engineers across teams, promoting adherence to enterprise architecture standards, knowledge sharing, and technical development.
- Collaborate with external customers and partners on network expansions, system designs, and integrations as needed.
- Travel independently or with a small team to various operational locations as required.
