Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, designed to serve a wide range of customers from individual households to large organizations operating in areas without reliable connectivity.

The Enterprise Technology team seeks a Network Development Engineer focused on wireless networks. The role involves designing, planning, delivering, and operating Kuiper's internal network, with an emphasis on automation to enhance efficiency and quality. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including operators, security, vendors, and IT infrastructure teams, joining a diverse group of engineers and developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain wireless networks, including Wi-Fi and related technologies.
• Optimize access point placement and configurations to improve coverage and capacity.
• Lead wireless network migrations and integrations with existing infrastructure.
• Provide operational support, monitor network performance, and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain documentation and generate reports on network performance and projects.
• Stay updated with emerging wireless technologies and industry best practices.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Willingness to support off-hours escalation rotations.
• Experience in customer support and working under pressure.
• Onsite work in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and Everett, WA, with travel as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in wireless standards (802.11), site survey tools (Ekahau), Cisco wireless solutions, and network security/authentication technologies.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Certifications such as CWNA, CCNP Wireless, CCIE Wireless.

Salary ranges from $143,200 to $247,600/year, depending on location and experience. Additional benefits and compensation packages are available.
