DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Network Datapath to build and evolve software powering high-performance networking across our cloud infrastructure.

You will work at the intersection of networking, OS, and distributed systems, delivering scalable datapath technologies for high throughput, low latency, and predictable performance. Hybrid work model with collaboration across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C, C++, or Go for production software.
• Strong networking & packet processing fundamentals.
• Experience with Linux-based networking systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize high-performance network datapath software.
• Improve packet-processing and forwarding for throughput and latency.
• Develop networking functionality across host, kernel, user space, and hardware datapaths.
• Work with Linux networking, eBPF, XDP, DPDK, AF_XDP, SR-IOV, and programmable datapaths.
• Analyze packet paths to identify bottlenecks and boost performance.
• Develop routing, filtering, encapsulation, tunneling, load balancing, and network virtualization.
