Job summary

FedWriters, Inc. seeks a Senior Network & Communications Engineer to support a Department of Defense customer.

You will architect and test communication networks for demonstrations, plan evaluations of tactical data links, SATCOM, and airborne networks in contested RF environments. You will lead network integration efforts, analyze performance, and deliver technical briefings to leadership, ensuring systems are proven before field deployment.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Top Secret security clearance is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience supporting DoD/SOF communications.

Overview

Join our team as a Senior Network & Communications Engineer and support a Department of Defense customer by architecting and testing communication networks for special operations technology demonstrations. You will plan and run evaluations of tactical data links, SATCOM, and airborne networks in contested RF environments, ensure next-generation communications are proven before they reach the field.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, standard business hours at MacDill AFB and nearby Tampa, FL offices. Travel to field test events to install and test communications equipment.

Responsibilities

Required:

• Minimum 10 years of experience supporting DoD/SOF communication systems
• Demonstrated expertise in network architecture, systems integration, and tactical communications
• Proven ability to operate and configure network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Keysight)
• Experience with tactical data links (e.g., Link 16) and SATCOM systems across various orbits (e.g., PLEO, LEO, GEO)
• Familiarity with contested RF techniques and technologies

Desired:

• Experience with data pipeline concepts
• Strong understanding of SOF tactical communications and network infrastructure
• Working knowledge of small unmanned aerial system payloads and integration
• Experience with government rapid-innovation cells, SOF common mission architectures, and government autonomy suites
