Job summary

SherlockTalent is seeking a Senior Network Communications Engineer to design, implement, and optimize Cisco-based global networks, including satellite links and international VPNs, onsite/hybrid in West Palm Beach, FL. Responsibilities include ensuring scalable network designs, coordinating projects, monitoring performance and security, and documenting configurations and procedures.

The ideal candidate has a BS in IT/CS, CCNA, 5–7 years of experience, and hands-on expertise with Cisco IOS,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, CS, or related field; CCNA certification required.
• 5-7 years designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale Cisco-based converged networks; expert Cisco IOS experience required.
• Experience with CradlePoint, WatchGuard, SolarWinds, Aerohive, or similar tech preferred.
• Telecommunications experience with multi-site Avaya PBX and VOIP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure international network infrastructure is optimized for current and future needs worldwide.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement products to improve security, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address telecommunication requests and oversee implementation.
• Serve as project coordinator for moderately complex voice and data system projects across sites.
• Prepare operational reports and maintain system and procedural documentation.
• Recommend hardware/software upgrades and coordinate with vendor support when needed.
• Monitor network performance and security, resolve issues, and manage outages to minimize downtime.
• Create technical specifications for communications equipment procurement (fiber, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless).
• Identify cost-savings opportunities across the network infrastructure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the international network infrastructure design is optimized for current needs and scalable to meet future business worldwide requirements.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement products and services to enhance system security, performance, manageability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address complex telecommunication requests, analyze needs, offer solutions, and oversee implementation.
• Serve as a project coordinator for moderately complex technical projects related to integrated voice and data systems, local and wide-area networks, wireless technologies, and associated infrastructure.
• Prepare operational reports, including project status, equipment, network inventory, and activity summaries, while maintaining system and procedural documentation.
• Recommend and implement hardware and software upgrades for systems such as telephone software, system parameters, and class of service, while coordinating with vendor support resources when necessary.
• Monitor network performance and security, resolving issues promptly, and managing service outages to minimize downtime.
• Assist in creating technical specifications for the acquisition of communications equipment like fiber optic systems, high-speed data, Internet, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• Identify and capture opportunities for cost savings across the network infrastructure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification required.
• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale, mission-critical Cisco-based converged networks. Expert-level experience with Cisco IOS is required. Experience with CradlePoint, WatchGuard, SolarWinds, Aerohive, or similar technologies is preferred. Telecommunications experience with multi-site Avaya PBX and VOIP is a plus.
• Certification:Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification required.
• License: Valid local driver's license and passport.
• Travel: 10% travel to various locations.
• Physical Requirements: Office environment, with the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, occasional bending or stooping, and sitting for extended periods. Ability to travel via various transportation methods and exposure to outside elements during travel.
• Language: English.

• In-depth knowledge of communication protocols, network management, and maintenance of large, international, mission-critical networks.
• Understanding of the latest telecommunications technologies, including VOIP, teleworking, and multi-site collaboration.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
