Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a Network Engineer 3 to design, implement, and support secure and scalable network perimeter projects. You will lead initiatives with firewalls, DDoS protection, load balancers, and hybrid/cloud network integrations, while guiding architecture and security teams.

You will apply expert analysis and design skills, work with two core areas of networking, and drive best practices for edge design, availability, and incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
• Five years of experience with data networking or general telecommunications experience.
• Expert level analysis and design skills involving the ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend cost effective solutions, and develop and implement those solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of network border security solutions, including firewalls, DDoS mitigation platforms, switch and routing equipment, and load balancers.
• Plan and execute secure network integrations with public and private cloud environments, supporting hybrid connectivity and cloud-native services.
• Serve as a technical resource for complex projects, providing guidance, design validation, and troubleshooting expertise.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to align network edge solutions with enterprise security standards and architectural principles.
• Drive improvements in network resilience, availability, and performance through proactive design, testing, and optimization.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and runbooks related to network border and security services.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for network security events, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to strengthen the organization’s network security posture.
