Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems seeks a Senior Network Engineer to support the DHS Insider Threat Program in the Lorton, VA area. The role covers designing, sustaining, and evolving the ITP network with emphasis on defense-in-depth and secure architectures.

You will manage LAN/WAN, firewall policies, and network monitoring tools while aligning with NIST/FISMA guidelines and supporting government audits. Onsite requirement in Virginia with acute emphasis on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree + 8+ years of relevant experience or Master's + 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Recent hands-on experience with firewalls (Cisco preferred, Palo Alto acceptable).
• Experience with Solarwinds and supporting government ATO audits for certifications.
• Experience in engineering, deployment, and operations of LAN/WAN switches and firewalls.
• Knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, network/security architecture, topology, and device integrity.
• Experience with the information security incident lifecycle (response, mitigation, reporting).
• Network management experience with Solarwinds/WhatsUp Gold/NetQoS/NetBrain.

Responsibilities

• Support the ITP network infrastructure, perform routine maintenance and guidance on upgrades.
• Perform availability and capacity management for the network infrastructure.
• Oversee High Speed Guard Cross Domain solution for data transfer between classification domains.
• Support documentation to capture the configuration baseline.
• Design and support system recapitalization plans for capacity growth.
• Serve as SME on all ITP network infrastructure.
