Job summary

Walters State Community College — Morristown Campus is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage the college’s enterprise network across multiple campuses. This role ensures high performance, scalability, and reliability with focus on data, voice, video, wireless, and cabling infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in IT/CS, 5+ years in network roles, and strong expertise in VLANs, routing, security, and VPNs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a highly related field.
• Five or more years of career experience as a network administrator, network engineer, or closely related position.
• Advanced skills in network, wireless, and network security technologies; VLANs, routing, and subnetting.
• Ability to pass a background check and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily administration, maintenance, and operation of institutional network services across campuses.
• Performs advanced diagnostics and resolution of complex network problems to maintain high availability.
• Manages enterprise network security by configuring firewalls and VPNs and administering VOIP infrastructure.
• Designs and maintains enterprise network architectures including security, routing, switching, and wireless networking.
• Plans long-term infrastructure initiatives for data, voice, and video systems across the college.
